Our Academics - Adventist Education

Knowledge Seekers Christian school is part of the largest Protestant educational system in the world - the Seventh-day Adventist educational system.   There are Adventist schools in nearly 150 countries. 85,000 teachers, 1.5 million students, 7,500 schools. 

The most pressing question that every parent will ask is "What is the academic benefit for placing my child in an Adventist school?"  That was a question that La Sierra University, partnering with the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists, answered through the CognitiveGenesis Study.  The CognitiveGenesis Study, from 2006 to 2009, gathered massive amounts of data about the academic achievement and abilities of 51,706 students in more than 800 Adventist elementary schools and academies in the United States. The students were in grades 3 to 9, and also in grade 11. Every conference and nearly every school in the United States participated.

The study was designed to show how well students are doing in the Adventist school system and how their academic achievement compares to the achievement of students in other school systems. Standardized Iowa achievement tests were given each year to gather this data.  The findings: in all grades, in schools of every size, the students in Adventist schools outperformed the national average in all subjects!  

From Pre-K to eighth grade, each student at KSCS learns the standards-based core academics to prepare them for the next level of their education.  Our curriculum & instruction is evidence-based, using innovative pedagogical methods to reach learners of varying abilities. Learning is not "one-size-fits-all" - each student learns differently, and our instructional methods employ whole-brain learning so that our students have multiple ways to learn the content and develop new skills. Our multi-grade classroom instruction allows each teacher to work with two grades at one time, a proven method of learning that is beneficial to each child.

Woven into our academics is character development: learning to live with and love all people, collaboration with peers and leaders, and continually striving for excellence.
